Using this guide

If you follow this guide directly, you should have no problems. Just click the links you're given, read every word, and follow diagrams as given.

Here are some visual aids:

Translations

If you see a rectangular box containing grey text like this, it's a translation from something in Japanese you may find useful.

The Oval of Truth

If you see a white oval containing the words 'Click Here', just click where the line points. In this case, the 'Address Not in Japan' link. It's also used for pointing out important things.

Enter Info

If you see a box containing green text like this, enter the information asked for. In this case, your e-mail address.

Copy Info

If you see a box containing red text like this, enter the information given in the text itself. In this case, you're entering an example japanese postcode.

If a given image has text instructions AND a 'click here', enter the text before the click.

Buying the game from Vector

Step 1 (Choosing your package)

Important Note: You will need a valid credit card for this process - Visa or Mastercard work for sure, I believe. When entering any addresses, make sure it's the address as appropriate for the card in use.

Go to this page You will see the following:

If you don't already have a game account, you'll want to click one of the top two options (New Account + Gametime). If you already do, then you'll want one of the lower two. This means you almost certainly want to click one of the top two options at this point.

I repeat. If this is your initial signup, click one of the UCGO + 30/90 days buttons. The bottom two are just gametime cards for renewing your account!

Click whichever is most appropriate for you.

Step 2 (Verifying with Vector)

First of all, you're going to have to double-check that this is the package you want. You'll see this page. Click the button indicated.

On the next page, scroll down until you see the input panels indicated. You won't be using these, as they're for japanese addresses. Click the link to change to the non-japanese address page.

Pretty simple, this. Just enter your e-mail address twice in the given boxes (IMPORTANT NOTE: Free e-mail addresses such as Gmail or Hotmail won't work, with the exception of AIM/AOL ones. You will need to use one of these, or an ISP mail address), and then enter your physical address (the one your credit card uses) in the other boxes, and click the button to verify.

Review everything you've entered on this page, and click the confirmation button shown.

Now, wait a minute and check your E-mail. You should recieve the mail below soon. Click the link indicated to continue to the next step.

Step 3 (Purchasing your registration keys)

You should now be back at the Vector store site, and seeing the page below. Fill in your credit card details, untick the boxes as marked (so none of them should be ticked), and click to confirm.

If everything went well, you should be seeing this page, complete with a bowing CGI cat, thanking you for your business. You're now done with Vector. Check your E-Mail again.

By now, you should have recieved the following receipt mail - it's quite lengthy.

Scroll down through it until you find this section. The top link is your personal download link to the game client. Download from here if you haven't already - this link will expire in a few days, however. The numbers below are your registration keys - two strings of characters in 'xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx' format. The left one is the one used to create your new game account. The right one is your month of game-time.

Congratulations. You have purchased Universal Century: Gundam Online. Now to register your account!

Reigstering your UCGO account

Important note: The registration pages also go down along with the game servers during maintenance hours - 1-4am GMT. You won't be able to do this section during this period.

Step 1 (Verifying your E-Mail address)

Go to this page. You'll see the site below. Click the link to enter the account registration system.

Pretty obvious, this next bit. Click to continue.

You'll now see the page you'll use to log into your account to add more gametime. We don't have an account yet, so click the button indicated to begin the signup process

Simple stuff here. Just enter your E-Mail address in the box and click to continue. You can use a free (Gmail/Hotmail) account at this point if you so wish.

Upon doing this, you'll see this little message. Just click the button and go check your mail - your confirmation should have arrived by now.

You should now have the E-Mail shown below. Click the link to proceed back to the UCGO site

Step 2 (Creating your account)

Important Note: if you take FAR too long with this section, your registration link will time out, and you'll have to go back to step one of the Account Creation process. Don't panic if this happens - it's no big problem.

You'll now be looking at a lengthy EULA agreement page. Scroll down through it - waaaay down.

And you'll eventually see this. Tick the top radio-button to agree, and then click to proceed.

You'll now be asked for your account creation key. Use the first (leftmost) key in your second E-Mail from Vector, then click to continue

We're on the home stretch now. Fill in the panels below. The first panel here is your private information - the login name and password you'll use to access the game, as well as a nickname for the official forums, although you won't be using that anyway.

Further down the page, you'll be asked for some personal information. It's likely that you can just make up anything here, but there's no real reason to. Just make sure you fill in everything.

And now for the one part that (was, originally) complicated. They want your japanese address. Thankfully, this isn't verified in any way, so as long as you use the postcode and phone number given in the image below, you'll be allowed in. Once you're done, untick the box and click to continue.

If you did everything correctly, you should see a large page letting you double-check all the information you entered. Make sure everything is in order, and if so, scroll down to the bottom and click the button shown.

Well done. Your account has been created - almost. Just click this button here to confirm everything and finish the process, and proceed to the next step.

Congratulations. You now have a UCGO account. Only one thing left to do now, and that's to use your game-time code.

Step 3 (Activating your account with gametime)

You should now be taken directly to the 'payment details' page. Click the button indicated to choose to use a pre-paid gametime code.

Pretty obvious here. Type in your second code here, and click the button shown.

(Note, you MAY need to click another confirmation button on the next page, but probably not. Don't think it's part of the signup process, at least.)

And you're done. By now you should have recieved a mail like this, confirming that everything has gone right. No need to click anything. You're done!

There, wasn't that easy? Now you can move on to the Newbie Guide, and create your first character.

Renewing your account

So, you've been playing for 30 days (or 90 if you were feeling adventurous) now, and tried to log in only to be greeted by this ominous red message:

Please note that you cannot renew your account until it has expired. There won't even be an option to add additional gametime, so don't even worry about this section until you see the red message above.

Don't panic. Your current gametime has just expired. Thankfully, renewing your account is easy. In fact, almost all of this process is retracing your earlier steps. In fact, identical.

So, go back to the 'Buying the game' section above, and purchase one of the lower two options, the gametime-only ones. Once you're done and have your fresh 30/90 day gametime code, you can proceed.
